Connor McCarthy

Connor McCarthy set the bar for excellence in his first season (2023-24) as the St. Mary’s Director of Golf, leading the Women’s team to the finals of the NCAA National Championship, where they lost in a playoff hole. The Men responded in 2024-25 with a trip to the NCAA National Championship, where they advanced to the quarterfinals, and in his third season, 2025-26, the Women’s team returned to the National Championship, finishing third in stroke play and making the quarterfinals of medal match play after winning the Lone Star Conference Championship.
 
He has been named the Men’s Coach of the Year in the Lone Star Conference in each of the last two seasons, and the team has been nationally ranked in 12 consecutive polls, dating back to week five of the 2024-25 season. The Women’s team has also been ranked for 20 straight polls, going back to the first spring poll of the 2023-24 season.

The Women's team has had four student-athletes earn six All-American honors in three seasons in Taylor Wilczek (2026 1st), Savannah Dupre (2025 1st, 2024 HM), Libby Kilbride (2024 HM, 2025 HM) and Rebecca Reed (2024 2nd), while Baptiste Touchard (3rd) and Guillaume Paquette (HM) earned All-American honors for the Men in 2025 and Kongpop Kaikaew (3rd) was honored in 2026.
 
McCarthy was named the fourth director of golf on Aug. 7, 2023, after spending two seasons as the head men's and women's golf coach at Shorter University. In 2023, both teams finished ranked in the top 55 and qualified for the NCAA Regionals.   

McCarthy was a collegiate golfer at SUNY-Cobleskill and Shenandoah University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in physical education/Kinesiology in 2020. He was a four-time All-Academic honoree, as well as an All-Conference selection in the North East Conference. He also completed his MBA at Shorter with a concentration in sport management.
 
McCarthy also holds his professional golf management and teaching certifications with the PGA of America and is a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
 
He was married to the former McKenzie Slattery in June 2026, and the pair resides in San Antonio.
